Indians are very much familiar with the mess while finding parking spaces for their vehicles in public places, institutes or office buildings. Parking Management is mostly done by security guards. Being manual management, it often becomes difficult for finding the vacant parking spaces or parking the vehicles efficiently without disturbing the other vehicles.
The vehicles parked in the parking space are detected, notifying the person in charge about the availability of the parking spaces.
The most common Parking Management Systems are:
Zonal Parking System:
All parking lots in the desired region, are grouped into zones based on parking demand patterns. This parking management system gives the number of vacant parking spaces.
Individual Slot Parking System:
The parking spaces are numbered based on which the number of vacant spaces and their positions can be known.
RFID based ticketing System:
This system is usually seen in the parking areas of malls. As you park your vehicle in the parking area, you receive one RFID card, which you have to keep with yourself as long as you are in the mall. Once you come back to get your vehicle at the exit gate, you need to return the RFID card. Using this card, your In-time(i.e. the time you entered the mall) and Out-time(i.e. the time you exit the mall) are punched at the entry and exit gates respectively. You have to pay the amount depending upon the number of hours you spent in the mall.
Gated Community Boom Barrier System using RFID:
In this sytem, the RFID tags are attached on the vehicles of a society or office. These RFIDs would be stored in the database. As the vehicles with these IDs enter the society or office, the boom-barrier would open to let these vehicles enter. For the vehicles which belong outside this region, the boom barrier will not open. This way the vehicles, outside the region, can be easily recognized.
Gated Community Boom Barrier System using Image Processing:
In this system, the images of the vehicles of a society or office are registered in the database. As these vehicles enter the society or office, the boom-barrier would open to let these vehicles enter. For the vehicles which belong outside this region, the boom barrier will not open. This way the vehicles, outside the region, can be easily recognized.
These UI applications are client-specific and flexible. UI Applications may be web applications, Android/IOS apps or universal display boards. According to the requirements of the clients, the indication of the parking space(vacant or filled) will be managed. Depending on vehicle parking environment and its variations, the WPMSs are designed.
